Nike and Puma to battle it out for Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford
According to the Daily Mail, Nike and Puma are set to fight it out to land Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.
Currently represented by Nike, the 23-year-old has seen his stature grow in recent months. His on-field performances have been matched by his off-field activities that have brought hope and positive change to a large section of the society.
As a result, sportswear firms are lining up to land the star on a new mega-money boot deal as his contract with Nike begins to near its end.
Nike are keen to retain the player and will table an offer of their own. Their biggest challenge could come from Puma. The German company have already made a splash by securing Brazilian superstar Neymar who was earlier represented by Nike.
The PSG star is now the face of the company and adding Rashford will only boost their reach further.
Rashford’s English teammate Raheem Sterling is also a target for Puma. He is currently in talks regarding an agreement worth up to £12million, excluding bonuses. The United ace can be expected to demand a similar figure. (h/t The Mirror)
The figure pales in comparison to the £21million paid to Neymar. But the Brazilian is a much more marketable figure and Puma offering him that amount of cash is understandable.
Rashford is willing to extend his longstanding relationship with Nike if a deal can be agreed upon. The sportswear giant also has the added advantage of having the right to match any offer put forward by a rival.

Exciting times lie ahead for the 23-year-old both on and off the field.
