Bayern Munich fear Manchester United can flex financial muscle to land Kingsley Coman
According to German publication Bild (h/t Daily Mail), Bayern Munich fear Manchester United could prise Kingsley Coman from their midst come next summer.
The 24-year-old was always a gifted player and now looks to have put his injury problems behind him. He has made 24 appearances this season, scoring 6 goals and making 11 assists so far. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Capable of playing on either flank, the Frenchman’s versatility and directness will prove to be a major asset for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Bayern fear United’s financial muscle could make the difference in their pursuit of Coman. The Germans are worried about the Red Devils’ ability to offer the player a considerable hike in wages.
As per the report, Coman could earn as much as £260,000-a-week before taxes at Old Trafford. Currently earning £140,000-a-week at the Allianz Arena, a move to United will pay off richly for the player. (h/t Daily Mail)
The Red Devils have also sounded out the player’s representatives regarding a transfer. The player and his camp have so far refused to commit themselves to Bayern, causing the European champions to be jittery.
The player’s contract at Bayern runs until 2023. Despite there still being time left, the Germans are afraid of him eventually moving on a free.
These fears are not unfounded given the situation with David Alaba. The Austrian’s contract is up next summer and he looks likely to join Real Madrid. Manchester United were also keen on his services but appear to have missed out.

Coman is aware of interest from abroad and revealed just last month that he is focussing his attention on succeeding with Bayern. However, having won it all at Bayern, a new challenge accompanied by a generous pay cheque could be on offer.
It remains to be seen if it will indeed sway the current in our favour.
