Bruno Fernandes sends a welcoming message to Manchester United duo Hannibal Mejbri and Shola Shoretire

According to The Metro, Manchester Untied superstar Bruno Fernandes has welcomed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to promote Hannibal Mejbri and Shola Shoretire to the first-team fold.

Aged just 18 and 17 respectively, both players are held in high esteem within the club. They were in action in Friday night’s 3-0 win over Arsenal Under-23s, with Shoretire scoring from the spot.

Fernandes believes the youngsters must keep a clean sheet and also believes this introduction will add more zeal to those already in the senior squad.

The United No.18 believes that the integration of youth is prooof that the club’s academy is doing it’s job.

“I think it’s always good for the club when we have young lads coming from the Academy, because it’s a sign that the work being done in the youth [ranks] is working.”

Fernandes believes that this is just the first step for both youngsters in what could be a successful spell at the top. He has asked them to keep their wits about them and seize the chance to make the most of the opportunity.

“Now is the time to be humble, keep training well and keep doing the right things when they go back to the U18s and U23s, and you have to try to make the difference over there.”

Every opportunity counts!

Fernandes has also urged the duo not to let their success go to their heads. There is yet a long way for them to go and it is likely that they will return to the Under-23s at some point.

The United star has urged the youngsters to not treat such a decision with derision and focus on impressing in every chance they get, even at a lower level.

“Every time is a chance to show you are ready or that you want to make that next step.”

As someone who walks the talk, Fernandes talks from experience and commands a measure of respect. Both players will do well to heed his advice.

They are still teenagers and have some way to go before becoming household names. As history would suggest, talent alone isn’t enough to take one to the top. Ravel Morrison is ample proof of that.
