Manchester United keeping tabs on West Ham United star Tomas Soucek
According to Football Insider vis Football Fancast, Manchester United are interested in securing the services of West Ham United ace Tomas Soucek.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bolster his midfield and looks set to dip into the market come the summer. Paul Pogba looks set to leave while Juan Mata’s time at Old Trafford is also coming to an end.
The Red Devils will need to bring in new players to offset these losses. In Soucek, they will have a player who has already shown his competency in the English top-flight.
Soucek joined the Hammers last January, initially on a loan. The deal was made permanent in the summer and he has since cemented himself in David Moyes’ plans.
The Czech Republic international has so far made 26 appearances and has scored 8 goals this season. An impressive statistic for a defensive midfielder. His impressive 6’2″ frame also makes him a force to reckon with during set-pieces. (h/t Transfermarkt)
He has formed an impressive partnership with Declan Rice in the Hammers midfield. The youngster is another player United have been linked with.
The new Fellaini?
Soucek’s impressive frame is reminiscent of a former United star, Marouane Fellaini. The Belgian ace was brought in by David Moyes and was used as a battering ram by Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.
Soucek is a much more refined player and has the potential to offer much more than Fellaini. With Nemanja Matic also in his thirties, the Red Devils are due a revamp of their midfield. Soucek would fit in nicely.

Soucek is an incredible athlete who could thrive in a box-to-box role. His versatility and strengths will add much to a United midfield that has increasingly stepped up when needed this season.
Whether we do eventually make a move for him remains to be seen.
