Diogo Dalot unlikely to return to Manchester United after AC Milan spell
According to Italian publication CalcioMercato (h/t The Express), Manchester United look set to part ways with Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot in the summer.
The 21-year-old was one of the last signings made by former boss Jose Mourinho. Injuries and a lack of consistency has prevented him from staking a claim as a starter at Old Trafford.
With Aaron Wan-Bissaka and even Brandon Williams ahead of him in the pecking order, Dalot decided to join AC Milan on a season long loan.
He has since enjoyed better luck at the San Siro with regards to game time. Dalot has so far made 17 appearances, scoring one goal and assisting two more. (h/t Transfermakt)
The Rossoneri are in fine form and have emerged as serious challengers for the Serie A title. Dalot could very well end the season with a Scudetto.
Milan’s agreement with United did not include an obligation to buy. However, the Italians appear to be keen on taking the player permanently.
Replacements identified
United are interested in bringing in a new right-back in the summer. Luke Shaw has benefitted from competing from Alex Telles and there is hope that a challenger can see Wan Bissaka too step up his game.
With Dalot looking to be out of the equation, the Red Devils are in talks with Atletico Madrid and Norwich City over potential deals for Kieran Trippier and Max Aarons respectively. (h/t The Express)
Trippier is a proven commodity in the Premier League and will add experience to the United squad. Aarons is one for the future and could compete with Wan-Bissaka for years to come.

It remains to be seen if Dalot too will soon join the list.
