Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United not in contact with Sergio Ramos
Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
However, according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, the Red Devils have not made contact with the 34-year-old veteran’s agent.
It was reported earlier this week that the player’s brother, Rene Ramos, who is also his agent, will travel to England to discuss terms on a two-year deal at United. However, Romano has dismissed any such rumours for now.
Ramos is in the final few months of his contract and can leave Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer. Despite his advanced age, he remains a dependable defender and can still do a job at the highest level.
It is no secret that United need to reinforce their backline. Unfortunately, it would appear that not choosing to do so in January may have cost us a chance of winning the Premier League title.
As per Romano’s tweet, it would appear United have not yet made a call on who to bring in. A decision looks set to be made in the coming months.
French champions PSG are also keen on Ramos but will only sign him if he is available for free. The jury is out on the player’s future with a stay at Real also not out of the question.
As things stand, where Ramos will end up is anyone’s guess. Reports of United leading the race for him now appear to be wide off the mark.

Ramos, despite his age, would be an invaluable addition to the United squad. The Red Devils have also been linked with RB Leipzig star Ibrahima Konate and Sevilla ace Jules Kounde.
Both players lack the experience and leadership of Ramos but are long-term options who can be around for years to come.
