Manchester United set to meet with the agent of Sergio Ramos ahead of a potential summer switch
According to TodoFichajes, Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos appears to be closing in on a move to Manchester United.
The 34-year-old’s contract with the Spanish giants expires in the summer. Negotiations regarding a new contract have gotten nowhere. Although they are keen to keep him on, Ramos will need to take a 10% pay cut on his current terms.
The player for his part has rejected the overtures and appears to be eyeing a switch to the Premier League. French champions PSG are also keen on the Spanish star but he appears to have his heart set on a switch to Old Trafford.
Ramos’ brother Rene Ramos, who is also his agent, will travel to England next week to discuss terms on a two-year deal at United. Ramos is estimated to sign a contract that will be worth an estimated £200,000 per week. Interestingly, it is lower than what he is currently earning at Real.
Zinedine Zidane is keen to retain his skipper and Ramos has flirted with Untied in the past, eventually signing fresh terms with Real.
A valuable addition!
With the dynamic nature of the transfer window, United fans will do well to wait before celebrating the capture of such an illustrious player. Having already signed Edinson Cavani last summer, we have seen there is quality available in the free-agent market as long as we are willing to take a chance.
Despite his age, Ramos remains a top defender and still has a few years left in his locker. Moreover, he is a leader who is also accustomed to being a part of successful teams.
