Manchester United fans react as Jesse Lingard impresses on West Ham United debut
Jesse Lingard was a player who received much flak at Manchester United. His decision to move to West Ham United on loan was an opportunity for him to silence his doubters.
It did not take him long to do just that., The 28-year-old scored twice on his Hammers debut to ensure the Londoners took all three points against Aston Villa.
Lingard had six shots all game, with three of them hitting the target. This coupled with his incisive passing made him a sight to behold. The Englishman also had 34 touches in the opposition half, the most by any player on the night. (h/t BT Sports via Twitter)
West Ham manager David Moyes was impressed with the player and even backed him to return to the England fold. Lingard has not played for the Three Lions since 2019. (h/t Sky Sports)
With the Euros just months away, Lingard has he perfect opportunity to stake a claim for a spot in Gareth Southgate’s squad.
Both Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho held Lingard in high esteem. The same cannot be said of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who failed to get the best out of the 28-year-old.
The player has now been afforded a platform to perform at West Ham. Time will tell whether he has found his level or if Solskjaer indeed failed to get the best out of him.

Wow. So great thought he didnt have it in him anymore. JL needs to remain consistent, goals should speak 4 him.

Also shows how badly OGS treated him. Performed really well under JM. A home grown talent. OGS failed him

Great to see Jesse show what he is capable of. There is a player in there and from now to the end of the season he will only get better.

It’s one game. Had enough chances at United and just not United quality, never has been. He made it into the poorest United team for 20+ years, doesn’t mean much except show how far u tied had fallen. Now they are back and he cant get near them. Not a coincidence

Lingard didn’t start a PL match this season until he’s loaned out to West Ham, and already scored more than Havertz in the league.
