Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sends a message to Manchester United stars ahead of Southampton clash
Speaking to the club’s official site, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a message for his players as they seek to rediscover their goalscoring shoes.
United have not scored more than two goals in their last eight Premier League games. Solskjaer believes his players’ show have more faith in their abilities and that things will take a turn for the better.
“Free yourself up, be adventurous, take a risk. You’re at Man United, you’re playing at Old Trafford, you’re playing with the best kit in the world, the best shirt in the world, the badge is on your chest.”
Solskjaer believes his side are creating opportunities but have lacked the clinical edge in putting them away.
“We’re creating big chances. Just be loose, drop your shoulder, take a deep breath for us and put it in the net.”
While we failed to score against Arsenal, Solskjaer believes the performance on the night was heartening, especially so given we were coming off the back of a defeat to Sheffield United.
Lessons learned?
In Southampton, we will be facing a side that plays good football and will look to win the game rather than shut up shop. Ralph Hasenhuttl is an excellent manager who has moulded the Saints into a formidable outfit.
The Norwegian is aware of the threat that the Saints possess, especially in set-pieces. United conceded a stoppage-time equaliser from a set-piece in the corresponding fixture last season. Hopefully, lessons have been learned.
Given that we will be facing an injury-hit Southampton side, anything less than three points is not be acceptable.

United have failed to win their last two matches in the Premier League. Dropping any more points could see us fall away in the title race.
