Manchester United transfer target Erling Haaland looks set to stay at Borussia Dortmund
Speaking to Anfield Watch (h/t Express), transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated that Erling Haaland could stay at Dortmund until at least 2022, amid interest from Manchester United.
United, however, are not the only club interested in signing the 20-year-old striker. Premier League clubs Liverpool and Chelsea are also amongst the teams keen on the youngster.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are the two other teams that have been mentioned as potential destinations for him.
But Romano mentions that Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, would want him to stay at Dortmund for at least one more year for a big-money move at the end of it.
“I also think Mino Raiola will push for Haaland to stay one more year in Dortmund and then leaving the club and getting big money.”
Haaland has himself been at his new club for only a year, after his move from Salzburg in January last year. And Romano adds that the player is happy at his club is not looking for an immediate exit.
A major transfer blow
The Haaland sale, as the Italian says, could also be affected by the sale of Jadon Sancho. Dortmund would be unwilling to lose both the English winger and the Norwegian front-man in quick succession.
“Selling both Sancho and Haaland in the same summer will not be in the perfect style of a German club.”
United and Chelsea are more likely to make a bid in the summer. However, they would have to fork out a large sum of money to land the striker.
This is because while Haaland has a £68million release clause, it only kicks in during the summer of 2022.
