Manchester United starlet Facundo Pellistri tests positive for Covid-19
According to MEN, Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri has tested positive for Covid-19.
Signed in the summer, the youngster has performed well for the club’s Under-23 side. The 19-year-old has been training with the club’s senior side over the last two weeks.
Pellistri was in line to make his first-team debut for the club this weekend against Watford in the FA Cup. He will now have to wait a while longer as he has to undergo a 10-day isolation.
The Uruguayan is the third United player to test positive for COVID. He follows in the footsteps of senior stars Paul Pogba and Alex Telles.
Thankfully, despite training with the first-team, there appear to be no signs of an outbreak among the playing squad.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed the news in his pre-match presser earlier today. He also went on to add that United have a fully fit squad to choose from for Watford clash apart from Pellistri.
“Apart from that, we have a full and fit squad.”
Solskjaer also went on to reveal that United have been following all the necessary precautions as cases continue to rise.
“I think we’ve taken all the steps we’ve had to following the protocols and guidelines, the club has been good, the players have been following as well as they can.”
United signed Pellistri from Uruguayan side Penarol on deadline day in the summer. He was an unused substitute in their Champions League group stage wins over Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir.

Pellistri recently said that it is his ‘dream’ to fight for a place in the United starting XI. He is working towards a debut in the first-team in the next 12 months.
The youngster may need to wait for longer to make that happen. However, he is on track to do just that.
