Diogo Dalot has unfinished business at Manchester United
According to Record (h/t MEN), Diogo Dalot has set his sights on a return to Manchester United next summer.
The Portuguese full-back was one of former boss Jose Mourinho’s final signings at Old Trafford. Despite his promise, he has failed to secure himself a spot in the United XI under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Currently on loan at Italian giants AC Milan, Dalot has enjoyed mixed success at the San Siro.
The 21-year-old has made 11 appearances for the Rossoneri as they continue to lead Serie A after 15 games. Dalot has featured in all six of Milan’s Europa League fixtures, scoring once and assisting two more.
Following this impressive spell in Italy, Dalot is keen to address the unfinished business he has at United.
“Of course, the feeling is a little deeper, more because I didn’t have the time I liked physically.”
Injuries too played a major role in Dalot’s limited opportunities at United. Although the defender describes the physical issues as bittersweet, he believes he has learned a lot from the experiences. (h/t Daily Mail)
A much-needed change of scenery
With the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Axel Tuanzebe, and Brandon Williams all ahead of him, Dalot’s role at United this season might have been nothing short of marginal.
The loan switch to Italy has helped him garner regular game time and resurrect his career. At 21, he has years ahead of him and could very well return to United as a much-improved player.
For now, his attentions are focussed on Milan as the Italian giants plot a return to the top.

The prospect of Dalot returning to Old Trafford is increasingly likely. After all, his loan did not include a provision to make the transfer permanent. (h/t Mirror)
Dalot is certainly a promising player and it is true that he has had poor luck with injuries. Hopefully, his woes are behind him as he looks to resurrect a career that had gone somewhat stale.
