Erling Haaland backed to quit Borussia Dortmund amidst Manchester United interest
According to The Express, German legend Lothar Matthaus believes Manchester United target Erling Braut Haaland is ready to take the next step in his career.
The Norwegian ace has stepped his game up several notches since joining Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg last January.

Despite having spent less than a year at Dortmund, Matthaus believes Haaland is ready to take a step up in his career.
“Haaland will not be playing at Dortmund anymore and will make the next step.”
United have been longtime admirers of the 20-year-old and tried unsuccessfully to land him in January. It remains to be seen if we will have better luck in our coming attempts.
Matthaus was generous in his praise of the striker and compared him to Bayern Munich ace Robert Lewandowski.
“Erling Haaland is regarded at Dortmund like Robert Lewandowski is at Bayern.”
The Polish ace is one of the best strikers in world football and recently admitted that he was interested in moving to United in 2012. However, Dortmund turned down United’s interest. It remains to be seen if history will repeat regarding Haaland. (h/t The Daily Mail)

Haaland has also attracted attention from Real Madrid and Manchester City. The former sees him as a replacement for Karim Benzema while the latter wants him to succeed Sergio Aguero. (h/t The Express)
United too is in need of a prolific number nine. Anthony Martial has failed to replicate last season’s success while Edinson Cavani is not a long-term option.
The Red Devils will have to hold off intense competition to land Haaland. Given what we have seen of him so far, it is worth the hassle.
