Manchester United ready to loan out Jesse Lingard if his wages are covered
According to the Birmingham Mail, Manchester United are ready to loan out Jesse Lingard in the January transfer window.
However, for that to happen, interested clubs will need to agree to cover the majority of Lingard’s £100,000-a-week wages. The 28-year-old has barely featured for United this season.
Among the teams interested in his services are Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion, Celtic, and Rangers. (h/t Birmingham Mail)
Premier League strugglers Sheffield United are also keen on taking Lingard on loan. The Blades will need all the help they can get to escape the relegation battle. (h/t MEN)
Despite his diminished role at United, the club is not keen to let Lingard walk for cheap. Not only will interested parties have to pay the majority of Lingard’s wages, but United are also keen to trigger a one-year extension in his contract.
That will allow us to protect his value and not lose him for a free in 2021, given that Lingard’s deal is set to expire next summer.
Lingard is open to making a temporary move away in January. He, however, does not appear keen to sign an extension.
The 28-year-old’s appearances for us this season have come in the Carabao Cup. One will have to go back all the way to last January for his previous Premier League start.
A starter for England in the 2018 World Cup, he has also not featured for the Three Lions since June 2019.

Lingard is a player United can do without. He has failed to assert his authority in the squad and is currently on the fringes.
A parting of the ways will be beneficial for all parties. When that happens remains to be seen.
