Harry Maguire owns a jaw-dropping statistic for the 2020 calendar year
A report by CIES Football Observatory (h/t Daily Mail) has revealed the statistic that Harry Maguire has played the most minutes out of any other player in the world in 2020.
The report states that the Manchester United skipper has played 4,745 minutes in 2020. The time amounts up to almost an astounding 79 hours.
Fans knew that the former Leicester City defender was reliable, but this stat would surely take a lot of people by surprise.
No other player in the world can match Harry Maguire’s numbers when it comes to minutes played in the past 12 months.
He is closely followed by Manchester City centre-back Ruben Dias, and Barcelona captain Lionel Messi. Maguire’s teammate Bruno Fernandes makes up the top 4 list of outfield players.
What’s even more surprising is the fact that Maguire has also played more minutes than any goalkeeper in the world.
He leads Marcelo Lomba in the list by 5 minutes, the top-placed goalkeeper who plays for Brazilian club Internacional.
Maguire has been ridiculously consistent for Manchester United. The 27-year-old signed for £80million from Leicester City last summer.
Since then, the England international has played every single minute of United’s Premier League matches, including this season.
In fact, Maguire played in 55 matches for the Red Devils last season, which included 9 matches in the Europa League as well. (h/t Daily Mail)
Even during this campaign, he has only missed two matches and none of them has been in the league.
It is obvious that Harry Maguire is one of the first names on the United team sheet. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has framed his defence around Maguire ever since his arrival in 2019.
