Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes leaves Kevin de Bruyne in the mud after West Ham showing
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes came off the bench to breathe life into a side that was struggling against West Ham United at the weekend.
The Portuguese international played a key role in turning a 1-0 deficit at half-time into a 3-1 victory in the end.
According to Sky Sports, the impact Fernandes had on the night can be quantified by this impressive statistic. The United star created eight chances for his teammates in a single half, the most by any player this season.
The previous record of seven was held by cross-city rival Kevin de Bruyne. The reigning PFA Player of the Season managed that earlier in the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Given our performance in the second half, the 3-1 scoreline flatters West Ham. Better finishing could have seen us run away with the game.
Fernandes grabbed himself an assist on the night for Marcus Rashford’s fine goal. It was the Portuguese star’s sixth assist of the season, the most by any United star this campaign. (h/t BBC)
With ten goals also to his credit, Fernandes has continued from where he left off last season. The 26-year-old has been the standout performer for United since joining us in January.

According to the Metro, Manchester United are preparing a bumper new contract for Fernandes. It is expected to be significantly better than the four-and-a-half-year one he signed just this year.
Fernandes currently earns £100,000-a-week at the club. Fresh terms will see that amount doubled to a whopping £200,000-a-week.
Given the impact he has had, we cannot think of a player at the club more deserving of the reward.
