Raul Jimenez reveals Manchester United approached him earlier this year
According to TUDN (h/t Daily Mail), Raul Jimenez has confirmed that Manchester United approached to sign him in the summer.
The Mexican ace has been a hit since moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers from Benfica. His ability and form in front of goal saw him linked with a move to Old Trafford. (h/t Daily Mail)
It would now appear that these reports were more than idle gossip. The player has now revealed that United did in fact make an attempt to secure him. (h/t Daily Mail)
The Mexican international plundered 27 goals last term while setting up 10 more in all competitions. He has already scored four in nine games in 2020/21.
Adding him to our frontline would have given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer more options. The 29-year-old isn’t just an ace goalscorer but also links up well with his teammates when needed.
United were far from the only club to enquire about him. Juventus also made approaches to secure his services. (h/t Daily Mail)
“I know is that there were approaches made. But an agreement was never reached and nothing was close.”
Despite being happy to stay put at Wolves, Jimenez has not ruled out a move away in the future. However, any deal will have to be suitable for all parties involved. (h/t Daily Mail)
Given his age, it remains to be seen if United will return for him in the future.
