Manchester United are keen on Borussia Dortmund’s Dan-Axel Zagadou
According to the Express, Manchester United are keeping track of Borussia Dortmund defender Dan-Axel Zagadou.
The 21-year-old is seen as an alternative to RB Leipzig ace Dayot Upamecano. The Frenchman is one of the best young center-backs in Europe and has attracted plenty of attention. (h/t Express)
United’s defence has not been at their best this season. We have largely looked open at the back and the club are now keen to bring in a new centre-back. (h/t Express)
It appears to be a problem Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was aware of. He was keen for the club to sign Upamecano this summer, but Ed Woodward had other ideas. (h/t Express)
With Liverpool also joining the race for Upamecano, our path to sign him will not be so straightforward. An injury crisis to Jurgen Klopp’s side have seen them have to go about sans Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. (h/t Express)
With Fabinho sidelined and Joel Matip having just returned to fitness, the Reds have turned their attentions to Upamecano. (h/t Express)
Given their dire situation, they could make an all out approach to secure the Frenchman. This has led to United looking for alternatives, with Dortmund’s Zagadou emerging as one. (h/t Express)
In Zagadou, United not only have a promising option but also someone potentially world-class. The 21-year-old has just 18 months left on his contract. This could give us an advantage lest Dortmund risks losing him on a free.
Whether we move for Zagadou or throw our hat in the ring for Upamecano remains to be seen.
