According to Spanish publication AS (h/t Daily Mail), Real Madrid are lining up a move to sign Manchester United star Paul Pogba in the summer next year.

Pogba has been flirting with a potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu for quite some time now. The Frenchman recently stated that it was his dream to play for Real Madrid. (h/t Daily Mail)

“Yes, all football players would love to play for Real Madrid. It is a dream for me, why not one day?”

The 27-year-old has been struggling for game time at the club after a series of underwhelming displays. His only good performance this season came in the resounding win against RB Leipzig at Old Trafford in the UEFA Champions League.

With the World Cup winner struggling to make the desired impact, it had been claimed last week that Manchester United could look to sell him. That too, at a reduced asking price of £53m, despite his contract with the club running till 2022. (h/t Daily Mail)

And now, Real Madrid’s interest has been piqued by Manchester United’s standing on the situation. Manager Zinedine Zidane is keen on securing a new midfielder next summer and had his sights set on Rennes’ wonderkind Eduardo Camavinga. (h/t Daily Mail)

However, Pogba’s availability at a reduced fee means that the Real Madrid boss wants to sign the 27-year-old ahead of the younger option in Camavinga. (h/t Daily Mail)

It is true that Pogba has struggled this season, although the fact that he has had to deal with injuries as well as coronavirus means it hasn’t exactly been straightforward for him.

There’s still plenty of time left in the season and should things fail to improve, then a sale could be the last resort for the club.
