Manchester United suffer triple injury setback at Goodison Park

According to MUTV (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United have suffered a triple injury setback in their win at Goodison Park.

A fine performance that saw us earn all three points was overshadowed by injuries to three key players. Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, and Marcus Rashford all limped off in unfortunate circumstances. The same was confirmed by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the match. (h/t Daily Mail)

The Norwegian revealed that Lindelof has a problem with his back while Rashford has injured his shoulder. Shaw meanwhile injured his hamstring in what could be a major issue for Solsjkaer. (h/t Daily Mail)

“Victor’s back, Marcus’s shoulder, Luke Shaw’s hamstring. That’s three I can remember from the top of my head.”

While the former two were able to see out the game, the same cannot be said of Shaw. The defender was taken off after 67 minutes for Axel Tuanzebe.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is livid at the scheduling
Solskjaer unhappy with the fixture scheduling

Given the injuries, one can understand Solskjaer’s rant against the scheduling in his post-match interview. (h/t Daily Mail)

Having travelled to Turkey, United were forced to play less than 48 hours later at Goodison Park. Such callous scheduling adversely impacts players leaving them more open to injuries.

The injury to Lindelof is not new. The defender was kept on the bench against Basaksehir as well owing to an injury. Hopefully, the players will not be called upon much during the international break as they recuperate.

To make matters worse, David de Gea also played through the match with a groin injury. (h/t Daily Mail)

We hope none of the players are seriously injured and will return to action as soon as possible.
