Manchester United approach Mauricio Pochettino
According to MEN, Manchester United have approached Mauricio Pochettino to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the club’s manager.
The Norwegian has come under pressure after a poor start to the season. Apart from a couple of solid wins against PSG and RB Leipzig, we have struggled to make an impact.
The team is currently in 15th spot in the Premier League. Despite currently topping our Champions League group, yesterday’s loss to Istanbul Basaksehir has seen us lose ground to the teams below us.
Despite having been at the helm for nearly two years now, Solskajer has failed to bring about an ideology or system of play identifiable with United.
The abject showing yesterday in Turkey looks to have been a mortal view to him staying in charge. According to the report, the United hierarchy were privately backing Solskjaer prior to yesterday.
They were reluctant to replace him this early in the season. However, a loss to Everton this weekend could prove to be the death kneel.
A loss at Goodison Park will equal United’s worst start to a league campaign in nearly three decades. Moreover, with the international break set to follow, it can give a new manager the time to put his thoughts across to the players and staff.
Solskjaer too painted a rather melancholic figure yesterday. He refused to talk about his future and instead opened up on how he wants to do his best for the club.
With the way the season has gone so far, United cannot risk falling behind our rivals in the race for the top four. A decision may have to be taken sooner or later.

Speaking on Monday Night Football (h/t MEN), Pochettino had revealed that he is keen to return to management. At United, he could have his opportunity to build a dynasty. Whether we will press ahead with plans to secure him remains to be seen.
All eyes will be on Goodison Park this weekend. It might very well turn into Solskjaer’s last game in charge.
