Jude Bellingham opens up on Manchester United snub
According to The Guardian, Jude Bellingham has opened up on why he turned down a move to Manchester United earlier this summer.
The 17-year-old made a name for himself in the Championship with Birmingham City. The club’s youngstest ever player, he was linked heavily with a move to United.
This sparked a charm offensive where United even roped in Sir Alex Ferguson to show the player and his family around the Aon training complex.
All that was for eventually nothing as Bellingham eventually chose to sign for Dortmund instead. In the player’s own words, his decision to snub us has nothing to do with United.
“My decision had nothing to do with Man United.”
Bellingham revealed that he had his attention focussed squarely on a switch to Dortmund ever since the German giants made their interest known.
“I was so focused and so happy with the interest from Dortmund that this became my first choice.”
The Bundesliga giants have a rich history of developing young players. The likes of Jadon Sancho and more recently even Erling Braut Haaland have gone from strength to strength at Signal Iduna Park.
It is clear to see that this aspect appealed to Bellingham. In fact, it would appear to have played a key part in his decision.
“The way they integrate young players into the first-team squad is next level.”
