Ole Gunnar Solskjaer singles out Manchester United star Fred in Leipzig win
According to the Metro, Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has singled out Fred in the impressive 5-0 win over RB Leipzig.
In what was out first home game in the Champions League in over a year, the Red Devils turned on the style in a truly fantastic display.
Striker Marcus Rashford rightfully took the headlines after a record-setting hat-trick off the bench. It was however a team performance where every player pulled his weight on the field.
The United boss showcased his tactical acumen with a change in our setup post the 0-0 draw with Chelsea.
The biggest surprise of the night was that of a midfield diamond formation with Donny van de Beek in attacking midfield, Nemanja Matic at the base, and Paul Pogba and Fred in the middle.
The tactic worked a treat and appeared to catch Julian Nagelsmann’s Leipzig side unaware. A dominant side in their regard, the Germans were made easy work of by United.
A major reason why we were able to pull off the formation was Fred’s work rate. The Brazilian star displayed his athletic prowess as he ran up and down the pitch all game.
“I’m sure Fred covered every little single blade of grass on that pitch.”
Fred has emerged into somewhat of a regular for the United side under Solskjaer. He has started our last four games and has impressed in all of them.
The fact that he kept running yesterday is a testament to his physical prowess. An engine in midfield, his presence is literally a gamechanger.
“It’s unbelievable how that boy just recovers for the next [game] one.”’
