Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make a decision on Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire
According to The Daily Mail, Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to decide if skipper Harry Maguire should be dropped.
The 27-year-old has not enjoyed the best of summers. Troubles both on and off the field have seen him cut a rather miserable figure.
Maguire has however not asked for time away to clear his mind. This could force Solskjaer to drop him from the team.
It is not just in a United jersey that the Englishman is struggling. He was sent off for England against Denmark within the first half an hour.
Maguire picked up two yellows early on as England crashed to a 1-0 defeat at home. This comes after the United star came in for severe criticism for his role in the 6-1 humiliation against Tottenham Hotspur last week.
His current loss in form has seen the likes of Rio Ferdinand call for the defender to be taken off the spotlight. While he may not be willing to demand it himself, Solskjaer might need to do so for the greater good.
For the greater good
According to the report, Maguire could be psychologically drained after being found guilty on three separate charges following the incident in Mykonos.
This mental anguish of a medial trail accompanied by a short two-week break is enough to rattle the best of us.
With the title of the worlds most expensive defender on his shoulders, Maguire has the weight of expectations riding on him. It would do us well to remember that taking one step back could lead to us eventually taking two forward.
As of now, it is clear that Maguire is not at his best. Whether taking him off the firing line will improve his form remains to be seen.

The player for his part has acknowledged his downturn in form. Whilst self-introspection is helpful, it can be counter-productive if necessary action is not taken.
United are set for a spate of important fixtures that could make or break our season. Whether Solskjaer is willing to drop Maguire for this tough run-in remains to be seen.
