Manchester United youngster Shola Shoretire compared to Jadon Sancho
According to The Sun (h/t Metro), Manchester United youngster Shola Shoretire might be the next Jadon Sancho.
The teenager is held in high regard by United. They believe he has what it takes to succeed at the highest level.
If the reports are to be believed, he can be just as good as Sancho. The English international is one of the best young players in world football.
United spent all summer trying to sign Sancho. They were however unwilling to fork out the fee demanded by Dortmund. The Germans held firm and the player stayed put in the Bundesliga.
However, if he develops as expected, Shoretire could provide United with an in-house replacement for the Dortmund star.
Just 16, he has been progressing rapidly through the United system. Shoretire made history when he came on as a sub in the UEFA Youth League last year at the age of just 14 years and 314 days. This made him the youngest ever player to appear in the competition.
As per Under-18 coach Neil Ryan, the 16-year-old has both ability and maturity. He also commented on the player’s versatility to slot in at different positions.
“He’s evolving and developing, can play a number of different positions, he showed great maturity I thought.”
According to The Athletic, United have great faith in the youngster’s abilities. This has seen them sign the player on a pre-contract agreement when he turns 17 next February.
