Manchester United starlet James Garner joins Watford on loan
According to MEN, Manchester United starlet, James Garner will join Watford on a season-long loan.
The Hornets were relegated from the Premier League after they finished 19th in the table. Thius brought an end to their five-year stay in the top flight.
Garner is the fifth youngster to depart United this summer in search of regular football. He follows in the wake of Tahith Chong, Dylan Levitt, Matej Kovar and Aliou Traore.
Watford were not the only team keen on the 19-year-old. Fellow Championship sides Huddersfield Town and Coventry City were also keen on taking him on on loan. (h/t MEN)
According to the report, United’s decision to choose Watford was based on the assurances given regarding Garner’s development.
Not only can Garner get play time at Vicarage Road, but he will also play in a system that United feel is beneficial. This can lead to his overall development as a player.
Having signed Donny van de Beek, United now have a plethora of options to choose from in midfield. Garner is better off playing regularly elsewhere than wait for scraps at United.
Garner came through club’s youth academy going on to make his first-team debut for United in February last year. Till date, the 19-year-old has gone on to feature seven times for the senior team.
A defensive midfielder, the youngster is held in high regard at the club. First team star Fred picked Garner as his pick of United’s youngsters currently at the club.

While it is pormising to see our best young players get a chance to impress elsewhere on loan, the lack of incoming transfers remains a concern.
With the window set to close on October 5, it remains to be seen who United will bring in.
