Fred opens up on his Manchester United future
According to Four Four Two (h/t MEN), Manchester United star Fred has revealed that he has no intention of leaving the club this summer.
The capture of Bruno Fernandes and the rebirth of Paul Pogba had increased competition for a spot in the Red Devils midfield.
The signing of Dutch international Donny van de Beek would only have added to it as we prepare for the 2020/21 season. This has, however, not intimated Fred who was amongst our best players last season. (h/t MEN)
“I want to stay here – that’s my desire.”
The Brazilian was brought in by former boss Jose Mourinho in the summer of 2018. Although he initially struggled to make an impact, the hiring of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer improved his fortunes.
Despite his upturn in form, the 27-year-old was linked with a summer switch to Turkish giants Fenerbahce. Fred has now personally quashed any such talk. (h/t MEN)
“I don’t want to leave. As I’ve always said, I want to be an important player and win trophies for this club.”
While Fred may not be the best player, he has consistently showed himself to be a dogged competitor. With a long hard season ahead of us, squad strength is key and the Brazilian should get enough minutes on the board.
A strong finish last season saw us end up third in the Premier League while also making the semifinals of all three cup competitions. Despite the heartbreak of falling short at the penultimate hurdle, Fred is optimistic going into the new campaign. (h/t MEN)
Moreover, he believes the addition of Van de Beek will adi them in their quest to win silverware. (h/t MEN)
“When you play at a big club, there will always be competition – I’m used to it. It’s been like that from day one at United.”
