Manchester United target Dayot Upamecano will be available for sale next summer
Speaking to ESPN (h/t Mirror), RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed that Manchester United target Dayot Upamecano will be available next summer.
The young Frenchman is coming off an impressive season that saw Leipzig make it to the Champions League semifinals.
His performances have seen a number of top clubs from across the continent take an interest in him.
While Upamecano was expected to move this summer, he instead extended his contract at the German giants.
It appears he is now set to stay put at the Red Bull Arena for the upcoming season. That will however not be the case next summer. This will work well for United, who had already made a decision on the defender.
Although the Red Devils are eyeing a centre-back, they feel bringing in a more established player should be the priority. With that in mind, United have made a decision to delay making their move by a year. (h/t Express)
At just 21, Upamecano has established himself as one of the best young defenders on the continent.
His performances earned him not just a new contract but also his first call-up to the France senior squad. Making it into the world champions’ squad is no mean feat and speaks volumes about Upamecano’s ability. (h/t MEN)
The Frenchman ended up making his debut for France and has made two appearances over the last seven days. He scored his first goal for his country in the 4-2 win over Croatia. (h/t Transfermarkt)

It is possible that we could face more competition for Upamecano next summer. More so if he impresses and becomes a mainstay in the French setup. It could also see his asking price rise.
The Red Devils could attempt to gain an upper hand by agreeing on a deal in advance. Liverpool did the same with former Leipzig star Naby Keita.
