Dimitar Berbatov tells Manchester United what to do in the summer transfer window
According to MEN, Manchester United hero Dimitar Berbatov believes the club does not need to sign another striker this window.
With less than a month to go before the window closes, United are looking to ramp up their efforts to land their key targets.
Dutch international Donny van de Beek remains the club’s lone major signing of the window.
United are working on a deal for Jadon Sancho. A back-up striker is also a priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Apart from the front three of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, United also have Odion Ighalo in their ranks.
The Nigerian is on a loan spell that will expire in January. Despite the prospect of losing the veteran for the second half of the season, Berbatov believes the club’s priorities should lie elsewhere.
“The priority for me is a centre-back and then the team will be pretty much complete, in my opinion.”
According to the report, Berbatov believes United should focus on bringing in a centre-back and a right-back. This despite us spending £130million on Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire last season.
“For United I think they only need two, in my opinion: a centre-back and a right-back.”
While the former United star has not dismissed the notion of bringing in a striker, he believes the club should go for a player who is exceptional.
We agree with Berbatov’s statement. Buying for the sake of it should not be the priority and we should be looking to add quality to the squad.

It was reported by The Athletic that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring Joshua King back to Old Trafford. While we bode no ill-feeling towards the former United starlet, we fail to see how he will be an upgrade over what we already have.
Berbatov also joked that he would be the ideal candidate for United to sign. An excellent goalscorer in his day, that ship has sailed long ago.
