Manchester United in touch with Italian wonderkid Sandro Tonali
According to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United are keeping tabs on Italian wonderkid Sandro Tonali.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has his eye on bringing in the best talents from across Europe. With a deal for Jadon Sancho having hit a roadblock, United are now looking elsewhere.
Likened to Italian legend Andrea Pirlo, Tonali has made a name for himself at Brescia, the same club the Italian maestro began his career at.
A regista, Tonali ‘s vision, movement and the ability to pick out a pass make him a joy to watch. The 20-year-old looked to be on his way to Inter Milan, who according to the report have a deal in place to bring him in.
As per the terms of that agreement, the player will initially be loaned to the Nerazzuri. They can then buy him a year later for €35million. The fee could eventually rise up to €40m taking bonuses into account. (h/t Daily Star)
Too little, too late
United however attempted to be the party-poopers when they contacted Brescia at the last minute to work out a deal. However, it appears that we are too late in our efforts.
Despite his young age, Tonali has considerable experience at the top level. So far, he has made 89 appearances while scoring six goals and 16 assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Tonali had earlier commented on Steven Gerrard and Luka Modric as influences in the style of play. It remains to be seen if he will follow the duo in making his own name in the English Premier League. (h/t Daily Mail)
