Manchester United to offer Dean Henderson a new deal
According to the Sun, Manchester United are set to offer Dean Henderson a new contract.
The 23-year-old returns to Old Trafford following a successful two-year-long spell at Sheffield United. Henderson as one of the Blades’ key players as they pushed for European football this season.
United number one David de Gea has come under the scanner of late due to his string of high-profile errors. This has led to speculation regarding Henderson’s future at the club.
The Englishman is also coveted by Chelsea to replace under-fire keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Red Devils are keen to keep hold of their young star and are set to offer him a long-term deal.
With De Gea having signed a contract extension last year, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a decision to make regarding his goalkeepers. To complicate matters, Henderson is not keen to stay put if he is not guaranteed regular football.
One way around it is to send him on loan once again with Sheffield United still interested. According to the report, this could cease to act as an option if Henderson pens improved terms this summer.
A new deal will see the 23-year-old bag £100,000-per-week. The Blades have footed a fraction of Henderson’s wages the last two years. Having to increase their contribution given his improved wages could be beyond Sheffield’s means.
The player for his part is keen to star for United and England. Solskajer had earlier admitted that he expects Henderson to become a star for both club and country. But whether he begins to fulfil that prophecy next season remains to be seen.

Henderson’s performances saw him get called up to the English national team last October. With Jordan Pickford flattering to deceive, Henderson could compete for the number one spot in the national side for next summer’s European championships.
Playing regularly will give him an excellent platform to show off his skills. United have a decision to make this summer.
