Raul Jimenez closes in on Manchester United move
According to Portuguese outlet RTP (h/t Express), Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Raul Jimenez is closing in on a move to Manchester United.
The 29-year-old has impressed since joining the Molineux outfit in 2018. The Mexican ace initially joined on loan before making the deal permanent last summer.
Having plundered in 43 goals and assisted 18 more in just 97 appearances, he is one of the best forwards in the top flight currently. Jimenez has also played a key role as Wolves take the continent by storm in the Europa League.
According to the report, Wolves have agreed a £27m deal to sign Sporting Braga striker Paulinho. He has been touted as Jimenez’s replacement. Signing him paves the way for the 29-year-old to move to Old Trafford.
The Mexican moved to Molineux for £33m, a club record. It will likely cost United much more to bring him to Old Trafford. Despite his ability, spending such money on a 29-year-old during a difficult financial period definitely is risky.
With Odion Ighalo’s loan deal expiring in January, United are in need of another striker. Not bringing one in will leave us short-staffed during a busy period of the season.
Despite the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, and Mason Greenwood all impressing, Jimenez will bring in a new dimension to our attack.
A traditional number nine, finding the back of the net is second nature to him. Something he does for Wolves regularly.
United also have an advantage when it comes to the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes. He has strong connections with United. This could make a potential switch more doable. Jimenez’s current contract runs until 2023. (h/t Express)

Jimenez isn’t someone who can be relied upon as a long-term option. But he is an extremely fit striker who can contribute to our cause from the get-go. The Mexican could be our trump card in the short-term.
