Man United remain keen on signing star Dutch duo this summer

Manchester United remain keen on Donny van de Beek and Matthijs de Ligt

According to the Standard, Manchester United are keen on Dutch duo Donny van de Beek and Matthijs de Ligt.

The Red Devils defeated Leicester City on the last day of the season to guarantee their participation in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

A return to the continent’s top competition not only is a draw for top stars but also a financial boost for the club. With the side still some way off from challenging at the top, the Red Devils are keen to strengthen this summer.

Among the names on the list are Van de Beek and De Ligt. The former came through the youth ranks at Ajax. He has gone on to make 175 appearances for the club, bagging 41 goals and 34 assists.

The Dutch international caught the club’s eye in Ajax’s dream run to the UEFA Champions League semifinals in 2018. He scored key goals against both Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur, leading his side to within a heartbeat of qualifying for the final

More so, he will be a cheaper alternative to Villa skipper Jack Grealish, who is also on United’s radar. Real Madrid too were keen on the 23-year-old. However, they are not in any condition tow work out a deal, paving the way for us to get our man.

United also need to strengthen their defence. Although we have the second-best defensive record in the league, the rearguard has looked shaky quite often.

The Red Devils have identified another long-term target as a possible solution. Tempting De Ligt away from Turin, especially after him winning the Serie A will prove to be a difficult task.

There is no lack of quality in either of the player United are keen on. However, whether the club will make a move for them or not remains to be seen.

Despite our progress, we are some way off from competing against Liverpool and Manchester City. With Chelsea also strengthening, we cannot afford to stay still.
