Victor Lindelof aims for Europa League glory with Manchester United
Speaking to MUTV (h/t MEN), Manchester United defender, Victor Lindelof is aiming for Europa League glory when the competition resumes next month.
United lead LASK 5-0 from the first leg of the last-16. It is fair to say we already have a foot in the quarter-finals regardless of the second leg. With Istanbul Basaksehir or FC Copenhagen up next, we have been dealt a good draw.
The Red Devils have already achieved their minimal season objective of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. A win in the continent’s second-biggest competition will be a cherry on the top. Lindelof said,
“Now we’re back in the Champions League and it’s time for us to start winning trophies as well.”
Lindelof has enjoyed a good season where he has risen to become Harry Maguire’s preferred partner in defence. United finished with the second-best defensive record in the league, only behind champions Liverpool.
The Swede understands trophies are important for a club such as United and he has his eye on the only competition left.
“We have one trophy left to win this season and that should always be the mentality, to win trophies. We have another one to win in the Europa League.”
United have to be counted among the favourites in the competition. We last won the trophy in Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge. Doing so again will be our second Europa League triumph in four years.

Interestingly, United have not won a trophy since that night in 2017 in Sweden. Lindelof was not at the club when we secured the trophy in his home country. Hopefully, he will get his opportunity this season.
Once we win the Europa League, we can go one better next season in the Champions League.
