Twitter reacts as David de Gea reaches Manchester United milestone
David de Gea made his 399th appearance for Manchester United in the club’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Thursday.
The Spaniard reached the milestone in his ninth year at the club. He also kept a clean sheet on what is also now a club landmark.
His latest cap makes De Gea the most capped overseas United player in history. He overtakes club legend Peter Schmeichel who made 398 appearances for the Red Devils.
The Spaniard has come a long way since being brought in by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2011. The 29-year-old repaid the faith put in him and is one of the best players to don the United jersey.
Becoming the most capped player in any category especially at a club like United is no mean feat. De Gea richly deserves the accolade.
The other overseas star closest to him in the current roster in Juan Mata at 252. It is fair to say that De Gea will be heading the list for quite some time now.
He is now also just one appearance away from making his 400th appearance for the club. He currently is 27th in the all-time list for Manchester United appearances.
We take a look at how fans reacted to the news on Twitter.

Is recent form notwithstanding, De gea have been brilliant for us over the years. Hopefully he caps this achievement with a clean sheet, but then the most important thing is all 3points!

The people who are hating on him have no clue what he has done for this club, how many times he has saved Manchester United’s ass from getting humiliated.
