Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stands by decision to let Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez leave
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has no regrets over letting Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez leave the club last summer.
Lukaku moved to Inter Milan for £74million last summer. Sanchez, on the other hand, moved on loan after enduring a tough 18 months at Old Trafford.
“I would still make the same decision if I can go back six or 12 months.”
The club did not bring in any replacements. It was only in January that we brought in Odion Ighalo on a temporary basis.
Currently on a 16-game unbeaten streak, the Red Devils have continued to rise up the table. We can cut the gap to fourth spot to a solitary point if we defeat Aston Villa on Thursday.
United have of late produced some of the best-attacking football since the days of Sir Alex Ferguson. The front three of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood have so far scored 55 goals between them.
The boss is not afraid to make the tough calls if he believes it is for the benefit of the club.
“This isn’t a popularity contest that’s for sure. I’ve got to make decisions I think are for the benefit of the club.”
United are also in within a shot of winning the Europa League and the FA Cup.

Ander Herrera, Antonio Valencia, and Matteo Darmian also left Old Trafford last summer. They were followed by Ashley Young in January, while Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo were loaned out to Roma and Estudiantes respectively.
Sentiment does not guarantee success and can in some cases hold back progress. By taking a pragmatic approach Solskjaer has back pride and identity to the club.
