Man United enter race for rising Arsenal star worth at least £36m

Manchester United enter the race for Matteo Guendouzi

According to French publication L’Equipe (h/t Express), Manchester United are interested in Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

The 21-year-old has earned the wrath of Gunners boss Mikel Arteta and could be sold this summer. He will cost at least £36m. (h/t Express)

United are not the only club in for him. Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also monitoring the Frenchman’s progress at the Emirates.

Matteo Guendouzi is more of a liability than an asset

Guendouzi was in the spotlight when he clashed against Brighton and Hove Albion striker Neal Maupay. The unsavory exchange saw the Frenchman insult his compatriot by bragging about his wages. (h/t Express)

Although he escaped a ban, Guendouzi was not in the squad as the Gunners prevailed at Southampton yesterday. Arteta is sick of the midfielder’s antics and is willing to cut his losses this summer. (h/t Express)

The youngster is a decent player with flashes of brilliance. However, they are few and far in between. Also his ability to pick up a fight rather than let his football do the talking makes him a liability we can do without.

There is a difference between being a fierce competitor and being unhinged. Sadly Guendouzi comes off as the latter.

United will do well to pass on the Frenchman. There are better players available elsewhere who are worth our attention.

Brought in by Unai Emery in the summer of 2018, Guendouzi has made 82 appearances for Arsenal.

Although he has represented France at various youth levels, he is yet to make his senior bow.
