Thomas Meunier to sign for Borussia Dortmund over Manchester United
The Belgian veteran will leave PSG on a free transfer once his contract expires this summer. He has penned a four-year deal at the Signal Iduna Park.
The 28-year-old has been with PSG since the summer of 2016. However, he has failed to make the position his own at the Parc des Princes.
He has also chosen against signing a short-term extension with PSG. Although he will depart a Ligue 1 winner, he will miss out on the French powerhouse’s Champions League campaign.
Ironically PSG qualified for the quarter-finals after defeating Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16.
It is difficult to see him replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka. However, on a free transfer, he would have provided excellent cover to the impressive Englishman. An experienced player who has played at the highest level, he is more than capable of holding hold his own when need be.
It makes a bad start to the week to United, who have now lost two players to Dortmund. The Meunier news comes on the heels of United losing out on Jude Bellingham. The youngster chose to follow in Jadon Sancho’s footprints despite United’s aggressive sales pitch.
