According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Star), Ajax Amsterdam ace and Manchester United target Donny van de Beek is free to choose his next club due to the cancellation of the Eredivisie.

This will come as welcome news to Manchester United, who have been keeping tabs on the player. The attacking midfielder came to the limelight last season as Ajax came to within a whisker of making it to the Champions League final.

He has also garnered interest from European giants Juventus and Real Madrid, two sides who Van de Beek starred against last season.

According to the report, Van de Beek is ready to leave the club when this summer’s transfer window opens, and he is currently considering his options.

He will cost around £43million and is edging towards a move to Spain over England or Italy.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had earlier admitted that United will look to take advantage of the transfer market if an opportunity arose. It appears that such an opportunity has just presented itself.

Having come through the youth ranks at Ajax, the midfielder has gone on to make 175 appearances for Ajax while scoring 41 goals and 34 assists.

Just 22, he can only get better and can turn into a key player in the coming years. Whether we sign him or not remains to be seen. He has gone on to win nine caps for his country.
