Marcos Rojo helps families in Argentina by handing out free meals
Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has helped families in Argentina during the Covid-19 crisis by handing out free meals and drinks (h/t Daily Star).
Rojo left Manchester United to join boyhood club Estudiantes on loan in January. The defender is currently in Argentina with lockdown in place due to coronavirus that has brought the world to a standstill.
Argentina has also been affected by the deadly pandemic with over 2,500 cases and over 100 deaths so far.
Amidst this crisis, Rojo has taken up the initiative to help people in his hometown of La Plata. The 30-year-old has distributed free meals and drinks to over 200 families in his native (h/t Daily Star).
“It was a pleasure to do something small locally to me to help in this unfortunate struggle the world is going through.”
Rojo added that necessary precautions had been taken while distributing the meals. People wore masks and gloves throughout to ensure there was no further spread of the virus (h/t Daily Star).
Since joining Estudiantes during the winter window, Rojo has made just one appearance for his boyhood club. Rojo picked up an injury early in his spell at the club, which curtailed his involvement. The season was suspended soon after he returned to action.
Rojo’s loan spell will expire once the season ends. The Argentine revealed that he would like to stay at the club beyond the current loan spell (h/t Daily Star).
