Rivaldo names Manchester United as the team he could have joined

According to Betfair (h/t MEN), Brazilian legend Rivaldo has revealed that the only English side he would have moved to was Manchester United.

Rivaldo was linked with a move to United following the Red Devils’ treble of 1999. The move failed to materialize due to the player’s reluctance to leave Barcelona.

The Brazilian, a former Ballon d’Or winner, always had a special affection for United.

The player was in attendance at the Nou Camp as United pulled off a remarkable victory over Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final.

“I was in the stands at the Nou Camp that night and thought that, if I were going to play in the Premier League one day, my club of choice would be United.”

Although there were other good sides in England like Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, given our style and success, we were the only team he was keen on joining.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s complimentary comments about the player also sat well with the player’s feelings about the club.
