Manchester United to focus on strengthening three positions
According to MEN, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the Manchester United transfer committee have decided to focus their attention on a central midfielder, a winger and a playmaker heading into the summer window.
The Red Devils have been busy drawing up transfer plans in spite of football being suspended at this moment.
With the future of Paul Pogba up in the air (h/t The Sun), bringing in a central midfielder to play alongside the excellent Bruno Fernandes will be essential. Some of the names linked with us have been that of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Jack Grealish.
United have already held preliminary talks regarding the latter. The 25-year-old’s valuation could depend on whether the Villans get relegated or not. It also remains to be seen if the current situation will adversely affect Villa’s already precarious finances as well (h/t MEN).
The Red Devils also continue to be linked to Jadon Sancho and James Maddison. The young English duo will surely add dynamism and creativity to the United attack.
We have been far too reliant on Daniel James this season for width. The signing of a winger and especially someone of the caliber of Sancho will not only take the pressure of the Welshman but also give us further options.
United are also keen to beat off German giants Borussia Dortmund to the signing of Birmingham City teenager Jude Bellingham. Our plans could receive a boost since the Germans could scale back on their transfer plans amidst the coronavirus pandemic (h/t Birmingham Mail).
A further advantage could be the trend of falling prices for players post the COVID-19 pandemic.
Never miss an opportunity
With there being uncertainty over how the market will behave, Solskjaer is keen to ensure United are well placed to take advantage of any opportunity that arises (h/t MEN).
“There might be just a situation there where you can exploit, and I know that we at Man United we are one of the biggest and financially well-off.”
With revenue streams currently suffering it remains to be seen how football clubs will behave with regards to splashing the cash on transfers.
According to the Daily Mail, United are miles ahead of our rivals in unpaid transfer dues. In spite of our financial might, we are not immune from the financial crisis and it remains to be seen where we end up.
