Solksjaer will give these five players a last chance against Derby County
According to The Express, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will give five United players a last chance to salvage their careers in the FA Cup clash against Derby County.
The United boss is keen to add to his squad in the summer and with new players set to come in, a number of existing players will have to depart.
According to the report, youngsters such as Tahith Chong and Angel Pereira could be on their way out alongside more seasoned players such as Andreas Pereira, Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard.
The young and the unimpressive
Chong has made 10 appearances for the Red Devils this year. The player’s contract is set to expire in the summer.
Gomes is in a similar position with his contract wearing down. He has made six appearances all season and could also be on the move if he fails to impress against Derby.
Another player whose time looks numbered is Brazilian midfielder, Andreas Pereira. The 24-year-old has enjoyed a consistent run of games this season but has failed to impress. He now finds himself behind the impressive Bruno Fernandes in the pecking order.
Pereira has made 35 appearances for United this season and has scored just once while making four assists.
The veterans
United veterans Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard also face the possibility of being shown the door after a number of underwhelming performances.
Jones has spent nearly a decade at United but has failed to hit the heights expected of him. A spate of injuries and poor form have seen him relegated to the periphery of the first-team squad.
The 28-year-old has made 224 appearances for United over the years. He has appeared only sporadically and looks to be on his way out, having made just eight appearances this season.

Lingard, on the other hand, has been given plenty of chances to impress at United. The 27-year-old does produce the odd bit of magic but is far too inconsistent and unimpactful to make a difference for United.
He is not getting any younger and has failed to repay Solksjaer for placing his continued faith in him. The winger has made 201 appearances for the club after coming through the academy ranks.
