Manchester United Transfer News
Record, the Portuguese newspaper has reported that William Carvalho could leave the club in spite of signing a new contract and setting his release clause at €45m. The report says that the price at which the club intends to sell the player is below his release clause.
While it is not very well explained how this would work, the message is that the player could be sold for €35m through some payment mechanism. The contract binds the player to Sporting till 2020 and sets his annual age to €1.5m.
Given the nature of €10m discount, the news says that Manchester United have been interested in Carvalho since 2013 and could benefit from the “payment mechanism” mentioned. William Carvalho is one of the several Portuguese players the Red Devils are believed to be interested in. Renato Sanches and Rafa Silva are notable others. United may expect some competition if they decide to move for Carvalho though because Arsenal and Chelsea have also been linked with the player previously.
