Southampton vs Manchester United: THREE Key Battles That Will Shape Premier League Finale

Manchester United’s season is dead, but they will want to go out on a high – especially as it will probably be Ryan Giggs’ final game in charge of first team matters. For the time being, at least. They go up against Southampton – here are three key battles that will shape the game.

1) Lambert vs Vidic

Both of these players are warriors, perhaps Vidic more so, and will be up for an aerial duel. Neither are the most agile players, so expect the battles between them to be gritty ones on the ground, but I think the Serbia international may get the better of the Englishman this time round.

This will be Vidic’s last game in a United shirt, too.

2) Kagawa vs Schneiderlin

The little Japan international will be deployed in a central slot and therefore be trying to work some space out of Schneiderlin, who has had another fantastic season for the Saints. Kagawa can spark a piece of magic from nowhere, so the French midfielder will have to be on his toes.

3) Van Persie vs Lovren

Last season’s Premier League top scorer has struggled with injury this time round, but has still scored 12 goals in 20 games. Will he be able to get the better of Dejan Lovren, who is the heartbeat of a solid Southampton backline?
