Bacary Sagna arrived at Arsenal from Auxerre in 2007 and has since played almost 300 games at right-back for the Gunners. He has made a name for himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League during his seven year stint, but his contract at the Emirates runs out in the summer and he is being linked with a move away. According to the Daily Star, Manchester United is a preferred destination, so here are three reasons why the Red Devils should snap him up.
1) Experience
As touched upon, Sagna has a wealth of experience in the topflight which would be hugely beneficial to a youthful looking United defence. With Phil Jones and Chris Smalling at the back, an older head in Sagna could do wonders.
2) Freebie
When there is no transfer fee involved it inevitably takes some pressure away from their performances. Should United be able to secure a deal with the France international it would be a good one, considering what he has done in the game and what he could potentially offer the Reds.
3) Statistics
The 31-year-old has played 32 Premier League games this season and another seven in the Champions League, and between the two competitions he has averaged 4.7 clearances, 1.7 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per game.
Statistics don’t lie.
