The manager has strengthened his squad further to improve their league performance and make a deeper run in the Champions League.

Man United squad 2023-24: Defensive changes

Ten Hag’s initial challenge was addressing the goalkeeper situation. With David de Gea’s departure and Jack Butland’s move to Rangers, United acted quickly to rope in Cameroon’s Andre Onana from Inter Milan.

Additionally, they made a decent profit by selling Dean Henderson to Crystal Palace and bringing in Altay Bayindir as his replacement.

Tom Heaton and Nathan Bishop had their one-year extensions activated in terms of player contracts, but the latter was subsequently sold to Sunderland. Matej Kovar was also transferred to Bayer Leverkusen for an estimated €9m.

Regarding the defence, Man United released Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe, while Alex Telles was sold to Al Nassr. However, Eric Bailly remains with the club.

Sergio Reguilon was brought in on an emergency loan due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

Additionally, Ethan Laird has joined Birmingham City, and Teden Mengi has moved to Luton Town. Marc Jurado joined Espanyol.

Man United squad 2023-24: Midfield changes

The Red Devils signed Mason Mount from Chelsea and secured a deadline-day loan agreement for Sofyan Amrabat, which has further solidified their squad’s midfield unit.

Fred left for Fenerbahce, while Zidane Iqbal moved to Utrecht. Marcel Sabitzer, who had been on loan at Old Trafford during the second half of the season, returned to Bayern Munich and later made a permanent switch to Borussia Dortmund.
