Manchester United enjoyed a highly productive first transfer window under the watchful eyes of new co-owners INEOS.

Given their focus on young talent—as evidenced by their recent signings—they have seemingly started working hard on plans for the winter and next summer’s transfer windows. The 20-time English champions are looking to add in a couple more positions to continue their squad rebuild under head coach Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United scouts travelled to Prague to watch RB Salzburg players this week. The Red Bull Arena has been home to some of the best talents in world football and it continues to be one of the best up-and-coming prospects on the continent. Take Oscar Gloukh, for example.

According to a report from German outlet Fussball News, Manchester United scouts were in attendance to watch Oscar Gloukh in action for RB Salzburg against Sparta Prague in the Champions League. However, RB Salzburg did not give a great account of themselves, losing 3-0 to Sparta Prague.

Salzburg signed Gloukh from Maccabi Tel Aviv in January 2023, and the youngster has quietly established himself as one of the hot commodities in European football. The Israel international has made 64 appearances across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing 23 assists.

The creative midfielder had a phenomenal 2023/24 campaign and has started the new season in great fashion, registering three goals and as many assists in eight goals in total thus far. Thus, it is not surprising to see him linked with elite European clubs, including Man United.

The Reds must start thinking about skipper Bruno Fernandes in the long run, regardless of handing him a bumper new contract before the start of this season. The Portuguese playmaker recently celebrated his 30th birthday, and while we expect him to continue

delivering at the highest level for many more years, INEOS must start planning for Fernandes’ succession plan behind the scenes.

In the long term, we will have to bring in a player fit to succeed our skipper, and Gloukh would be a terrific option. Capable of playing out wide or in a deeper role, the Rehovot-born talent thrives in the hole behind the striker as it allows him to use his creativity, flair and vision to unlock rigid defences. The 20-year-old’s low centre of gravity allows him to twist and turn without much fuss, beat defenders and carry the ball with ease.

The 14-cap Israel international being technically so strong at such a tender age is extremely exciting. Gloukh has the required qualities to be a long-term asset for Ten Hag’s side. So, we must continue monitoring his developments at Salzburg ahead of a potential swoop in 2025.
