Rival Premier League boss throws shade at Erik ten Hag's poor man-management skills at Manchester United.

Among all the dozen pointed fingers at Erin Ten Hag in the past, his way of treating players has been a constant. While he focused on bringing the players he had worked with before, he turned a blindside on them in no time. Bringing in players just for them to end up on the bench and denying players exit has been a common sight since Ten Hag’s arrival. In the most recent episode of this sequence, we saw Jadon Sancho being left out and brought back in just to be left out again. Following this, Sancho managed to escape the bench of Old Trafford on a loan move to Chelsea.

Following his move to Chelsea, Jadon Sancho made his debut off the bench against Bournemouth. Not only did he assist the only goal of the game, he also picked up the Man of the Match trophy despite coming on in the second half. Sancho wasn’t even in the squad for United in this campaign. And has made a sudden impact for the Blues. In the post-game interview, Chelsea manager Maresca expressed how pleased he was with what he’s seen of the Englishman, saying:

“It’s very important. I have a feeling that Jadon is a guy that needs love. “This is what I thought when I spoke with him before he joined us.”

“Also I know he has the desire to show the player he is, but for me, it is just to enjoy football. “This is the reason why they play.

“They are happy and want to play football, they want to enjoy football and then because they are good, they are going to do good things.”

Sancho who had a great season last time out at Dortmund was denied a loan extension. After leading the team to a Champions League final and putting some masterclass performances on European level, he was wanted back at Old Trafford. However, things started exactly from where he left off as he returned to Manchester. Ten Hag questioning his levels and him finding himself on the bench again. Despite him marking his levels on the European level, the Dutch manager couldn’t even cut him a single minute of game time.

While it sends a clear message on how players want to go on with their football, these comments could also be directed at Ten Hag. It is no secret that Ten Hag has had a problem with failed signings over the years. With many forgotten names and players struggling for a spot, it wouldn’t hurt to wonder if he’s the problem.

With a stacked squad and not being able to make your rotations right, players getting upset is natural. Everyone around trains week in and week out to be on the centre stage. And a little frustration when not granted the privilege is obvious. While everyone keeps questioning Sancho’s levels at United, maybe it is time to turn the eye to the person responsible for making the most out of him.
