Manchester United’s struggles in the Premier League show no signs of ending, with their dismal run of form highlighted by a crushing 3-0 defeat to arch-rivals Liverpool. Adding to their woes, one of their key wingers has reportedly expressed a desire to leave the club.
Despite bolstering their squad with several signings, including defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte, defenders Matthijs De Ligt and Leny Yoro, and striker Joshua Zirkzee, United continues to falter and fail to secure victories.
€200,000-per-week attacker intends to leave Old Trafford
According to a report by the British outlet The Sun, it has been into the news that Antony Santos intends to leave Manchester United and is currently pushing for a loan move. The 24-year-old joined the Red Devils in 2022 for a massive fee of €86m and reportedly earns €200,000-per-week but has turned out to be a complete flop in English football, scoring just 11 goals in 83 appearances for United across all the competitions.
Turkish club Fenerbahce, who is currently managed by Jose Mourinho have already marked their interest in him and likely remain the prime negotiator for the deal, as the Turkish summer transfer window is open until Friday.
While Jadon Sancho has already departed to Chelsea on a season loan spell, Antony’s departure will reduce the burden on the club financially. The club still want to sign a striker considering their current options are not performing consistently.
The horrific condition could be understood by the stats that the club has managed to score only two goals in their first three games, while they conceded five. It is one of the prime reasons that the club is struggling at the 14th position in the Premier League table with two losses and a single win in their first three games.

Sighting the overall angle behind Antony’s departure, it would be a good decision for both the player and the club as he is not getting an ample amount of playing time in his current team and if he moves to Turkey, it is for sure that the São Paulo-born will get enough of playing time there. The probability of a permanent transfer is unlikely until the next summer.
It would be a good idea if United intended to loan out Antony Santos for the season, and this could benefit all parties involved. After failing to hit top form since his big-money move, a loan spell could give him a new lease of life.
More consistent game time elsewhere can help him rediscover his spark and self-belief, turning the player into the glimmering talent they were anticipating at United.
At the same time, it allows for Erik ten Hag to experiment with new signings or budding young talent to provide greater variety in their squad. It seems unlikely at the moment but it will not be a total surprise if it happens and let’s see how it goes.
